CRIME WATCH ALERT: NOVEMBER 27, 2024
***DO NOT SEND BITCOIN TO ANYONE***

Please do not withdraw money from your financial institutions to purchase BitCoin, other crypto-currencies or gift cards and send them to someone that you do not know. Scam artists are contacting residents (phone, text messages, email, etc.) and requesting them to withdraw money from their accounts, purchase crypto-currency or gift cards and to send them back to a number linked to the scammer. Once the money is sent it is gone. Another common scam is to deposit a check into your account and send money back to the person that contacted you. These checks typically “bounce” and you are out of the money. Please advise your more senior family members, neighbors and friends of these types of scams as they are the people that are usually targeted. They often use scare tactics such as fake arrest warrants, bail needs to be posted, or they identify them self as a federal or local law enforcement officer. In many cases the scammer has a foreign accent. Legitimate law enforcement agencies will not contact you in this manner and threaten you. Please hang up the phone and call the Crafton Police Department if you have any questions. Do NOT provide any personal information to these scammers either.
Residents are reminded to ALWAYS lock your vehicles and do NOT leave anything of value in your vehicle. Several neighboring communities have had thefts from vehicles recently along with multiple vehicles stolen.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!!
PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE…IT’S NOT WORTH IT!!

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLES UNLOCKED OR LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.
ALWAYS REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AND/OR PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY TO 911.
