PLANNING BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

The Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board, and Building Appeals Board are volunteer advisory bodies composed of residents appointed by Borough Council. They are charged with providing input on and making certain decisions regarding planning and zoning matters in the Borough. Crafton Planning Commission

Advises the Borough Council on development matters under the Borough Zoning Ordinances and Comprehensive Plan, and recommends appropriate actions. The Commission is comprised of five members who serve three-year terms. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM, unless otherwise advertised.

Crafton Zoning Hearing Board

Hears and rules on appeals by applicants for variances or special exceptions from determinations by the Zoning Officer under provisions of the Borough Zoning Ordinance. The Board is comprised of three members with one alternate who serve three-year terms. Meetings/hearings are scheduled as needed.


UCC Joint Board of Appeals

Reviews cases involving enforcement of the Building Code. Members must have qualifying criteria and a construction/builder background. The Board is comprised of members from each community, including Carnegie Borough, Crafton Borough, Crescent Township, Green Tree Borough, Ingram Borough, McKees Rocks Borough, Neville Township, North Fayette Township, and Stowe Township under the direction of the Char West Council of Governments.

Crafton Borough Council is in the review processes for the draft of our updated Zoning Ordinance as we prepare to submit it to the County Planning Office for review. The County will have 45 days to complete the review. If there are no significant changes recommended, Borough Council can advertise and vote on the new zoning ordinance in October or November.
