Ground Breaking of the Crafton Boulevard Sewer Separation Project

On Friday, May 14th, 2021, Crafton Borough held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Crafton Boulevard Sewer Separation Project across from the Crafton Elementary School.  Crafton Borough Council President Phillip Levasseur welcomed an audience of project stakeholders inclusive of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County Sewer Authority (ALCOSAN), Carlynton School District (CSD) where he briefly discussed the forthcoming improvements with Engineer Alberto Jarquin which will include new underground stormwater management facilities, streetscapes, and parking lot. Senator Wayne Fontana and Representative Dan Deasy also addressed the audience and discussed the importance of working together on these critical projects as they ensure the future vitality of our communities. 

Honored guests present included: State Senator Wayne Fontana, State Representative Dan Deasy, ALCOSAN GROW Program Leads Tim Prevost and Julia Spicher, Carlynton School District Board President Jim Schriver, Carlynton School Board Vice President Joe Appel, Huntington National Bank Senior Vice President Joseph Miller, Carlynton School District Superintendant Dr. John Krieder and Office of Senator Fontana Executive Director Keith Wehner. Borough of Crafton representatives: Mayor Jim Bloom, Council President Phillip Levasseur, Council Vice President Coletta Perry, Council President Pro Tem Brad Crouse, Councilperson Colton Chandler, Councilperson John Oliverio, Solicitor Steve Korbel, Interim-Manager Douglas Sample, and Borough Engineers Gateway Engineering Project Lead Alberto Jarquin. This historic event was observed by dozens of children from Crafton Elementary who we hope will be the ultimate benefactor of these investments in our community and waterways. Crafton Council extends our thanks to the City of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for granting the various permits required to construct this project.
