CRIME WATCH ALERT: OCTOBER 10, 2024
The Crafton Police Department took several reports of thefts from vehicles today that occurred in the overnight and very early morning hours of Wednesday October 9th through Thursday October 10th. At least 3 reports were generated form McMunn Ave. in which vehicles were entered and items were stolen from them. Another vehicle on Haldane St. was entered overnight and items were stolen from it as well. Several of these reports indicated that the vehicles were NOT locked. Additionally, a Hyundai sedan was stolen from Lawson Ave. at approximately 5:45 AM. This vehicle was recovered in the city of Pittsburgh in the evening hours of October 10th.
Kia and Hyundai owners are reminded to take extra steps such as using a steering wheel lock to secure your vehicle due to the recent thefts of these types of vehicles which was made popular on social media.
If you live on any of these streets and have some type of security/surveillance camera please review them and forward any information to the Crafton Police Department. Thank you for your assistance and remember to call 911 immediately if you see similar type of activity.
Residents are reminded to ALWAYS lock your vehicles and do NOT leave anything of value in your vehicle. Several neighboring communities have had thefts from vehicles recently along with multiple vehicles stolen.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLES UNLOCKED OR LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.
ALWAYS REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AND/OR PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY TO 911.
