CRIME WATCH ALERT: MAY 22, 2023

The Crafton Police Department responded to the Thornburg Dog Park parking lot on Sunday, 5-21-2023 for a theft from a vehicle. One vehicle that was unlocked had a diaper bag with a purse, wallet and cell phone stolen from it. The vehicle next to it had the rear passenger side window smashed out. A laptop computer and a work bag were stolen from this vehicle. These incidents are believed to have occurred between 12:20 PM and 12:35 PM. If anyone observed a suspicious vehicle or person in the area please contact the Crafton PD.

If you are going to leave valuables in your vehicle it is suggested to place them in the trunk or at least out of sight. The best practice is to not leave anything of value in your vehicle. There have been many reports taken by agencies all across Allegheny County recently of vehicles being entered and items being stolen. Typically this happens overnight and to vehicles that were left unlocked. This incident goes to show that it can happen at any time of the day or night. Locke your vehicle every time and remove valuables.

Crafton PD is also looking for two people to be crime watch coordinators. If you are interested in being a coordinator, please contact the office at 412-921-2016.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLES UNLOCKED OR LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.

ALWAYS REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AND/OR PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY TO 911.
