CRIME WATCH ALERT: MAY 26, 2021

The Crafton Police took a report today from a female that resides out of state who received a phone call that she believed was a scam.  The caller ID showed that the phone number was from the “Crafton Police” and that it was 412-921-2014.  The caller was advised that there was a warrant for her arrest and that her social security number was requested by the person placing the phone call.  The Crafton Police Department will not ask for your social security number over the phone.  This call was a scam phone call and the out of state resident did not give out any of her information.  If you receive a phone call like this or something similar in nature hang up and call directly into the Crafton Police Department or dial 911.  This way you can be sure that you are speaking with a Crafton Police Officer and not somebody pretending to be one of us attempting to steal your identity.  You can also call into the magistrate’s office as well if you have any concerns about there being a warrant for your arrest and they will advise you accordingly.
