CRIME WATCH ALERT: APRIL 28, 2020 #1

The Crafton Police Department took two reports from both of our 24-hour laundromats within the borough being victimized. Unknown suspects entered the laundromats and broke into the candy, pop, and change machines at these locations. In these incidents, money and products were stolen. The machines themselves were damaged extensively as well. The investigation is ongoing as the police department is awaiting video surveillance. Through information sharing, a couple of people of interest have been developed.

In one of these cases, a witness called a neighboring police department's non-emergency phone number and left a message instead of calling 911. The witness observed two suspects inside the laundromat wearing masks and carrying a crowbar. This is ABSOLUTELY a case in which 911 should have been called IMMEDIATELY! Our department was notified approximately 45 minutes to an hour later after the suspects had already fled the area. When in doubt dial 911 so that the incident can be investigated immediately and a search can be conducted for the suspects.

A graffiti incident was also reported. A suspect used red spray paint to vandalize the West Busway overpass on W. Steuben St. by writing a message. If you have any information or believe you saw who did this please call the Crafton PD or Port Authority PD.

Just a reminder with the recent lifestyle changes that are upon us the police department is asking residents to use common sense and remain patient and calm. As always please report any suspicious activity to the police department immediately so that it can be investigated and individuals can possibly be identified. Please look out for neighbors and check in on your elderly family members and neighbors.
