Crime Watch Report -March 18, 2020

The Crafton Police Department took a report on this date of a suspicious male attempting to solicit business. The male was described as a white male in his 40s, stocky build and light eyes. The male came to a Rodgers Ave. address and approached the resident about doing a paving job. The male stated that he was doing work at a neighbor's residence and that he would have extra material. The resident declined the offer and the male left the area in a white or light colored truck. This is a common scam and it typically becomes more prevalant once the weather breaks and paving companies come out in full force. The best advice for incidents like this is to decline the offer and only let companies that you contact or a friend and/or family member refers to you.

Please also use caution if and when you receive phone calls, emails, text messages or other messages through social media apps regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. The police department has already taken reports of what are believed to be scams. Please look into the charity prior to donating. Feel free to contact the police department with any questions.

With the recent lifestyle changes that are upon us the police department is asking residents to use common sense and remain patient and calm. As always please report any suspicious activity to the police department immediately so that it can be investigated and individuals can possibly be identified. Please look out for neighbors and check in on your elderly family members and neighbors.

-PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOCK YOUR VEHICLE(S) AND RESIDENCES ALL OF THE TIME.
-RESIDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY UPON OBSERVING A SUSPICIOUS PERSON OR SOMETHING THAT APPEARS TO BE SUSPICIOUS.
-IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING (Please call 911 immediately, not later)
Remember if it seems too good to be true. It probably is.
