Tips/advice:
Please report suspicious activity and people immediately by dialing 911 instead of waiting until later to file a report. During this holiday season don't be an easy target for the Grinch. Take some precautions when you are expecting packages to be delivered when you are not home. Be sure to leave lights and/or appliances on to give the appearance that someone is home if you plan on traveling. Inform your neighbors and come into the police station to fill out a vacation watch form. Use caution when cooking and when using space heaters and extension cords as these are all common causes of fires. Buckle up all the time, don't text and drive and don't drink and drive. Use a ride sharing service, taxi or designated driver if you indulge at a holiday party.

Do NOT leave money or valuables in your vehicle if you would like to keep them in your possession. Lock your vehicle all the time. Unknown derelicts have been shopping around town lately and locating easy targets. These easy targets include vehicles that are left unlocked and/or with windows partially down. Don't set your yourself up to be disappointed. Please contact the police department with any information on who may be trying car door handles and entering these vehicles to steal your hard-earned belongings.

Don't forget to submit a Vacation Watch form if you are fortunate to be getting out of town for vacation. It is also a good idea to let your neighbors know that you will be gone and request them to keep an eye on your property as well. Do NOT leave your valuables outside on your porch or deck either if you would like to hold on to them for a while.
