CRIME WATCH ALERT: FEBRUARY 28, 2025
Crafton PD took multiple reports on Wednesday, February 26th of vehicles that were damaged or rummaged through overnight. One Hyundai sedan was reported stolen from Sterrett St. This vehicle was recovered a short time later in Ingram Borough on Stratmore St. The vehicle had windows that were smashed out of it and the steering column was damaged. A Hyundai sedan on Dinsmore Ave. was found with the car alarm going off and a window smashed out. Nothing was stolen from this vehicle. Three other vehicles nearby were found unlocked. No items were stolen from them and the owner did not report any damage. Later in the day another Hyundai sedan on Dinsmore Ave. was found to have entered overnight as well. This vehicle was unlocked and the steering column was severely damaged. Remember to lock your vehicle all of the time and do not leave items of value in your vehicle. The suspects now seem to be getting bolder and are smashing out windows. Hyundai and Kia vehicles seem to be the most targeted. Please take extra steps to secure your vehicle if you own a Hyundai or Kia by placing a steering wheel lock on the steering wheel or using some other type of theft deterrent system. As always, please report any suspicious people or activities to the Crafton Police Department immediately by dialing 911. If any residents have some type of camera system at their residence, please check them on Wednesday February 26th between the hours of 0100-0600 hours and notify this department if any suspects are observed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
The Crafton Police Department cannot stress it enough to lock your vehicles all of the time and not to leave valuable items inside your vehicle, especially in plain view.
Residents are reminded to ALWAYS lock your vehicles and do NOT leave anything of value in your vehicle. Several neighboring communities have had thefts from vehicles recently along with multiple vehicles stolen.
***LOCK YOUR VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIME***
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLES UNLOCKED OR LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.
ALWAYS REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AND/OR PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY TO 911.
