Crime Watch Alert: December 16, 2020

The Crafton Police Department took several reports of vehicles that were entered in the early morning hours on this date. The time frame appears to be between 0400-0600 hours. Several vehicles on N. Emily St., N. Linwood Ave., S. Emily St. and Warren St. fell victims to these thieves. The vehicles were left UNLCOKED. Some vehicles were entered and ransacked while others did have some items stolen from them to include loose change, pills, driver’s licenses, insurance cards and a knife. The group was observed on home surveillance video on S. Emily St. at 0545 hours and the group was comprised of what appears to be both black and white teenagers, 1 female and 5 males. Three people were also observed inside a vehicle on N. Emily St. at approximately 0500 hours however nobody called 911 to report this.

If any resident has surveillance cameras from any of the streets where these incidents occurred please review them and contact the Crafton Police Department. Please help us protect you and your neighbors by calling 911 immediately if you observe someone or something suspicious like a group of teenagers inside of a vehicle that does not belong to them at 0500 hours. The police department is requesting assistance from residents to put an end to this. Crafton along with every other community in the area has been targeted by thieves going around at night and stealing from unlocked vehicles. Do NOT leave anything of value in your vehicle and LOCK your vehicle EVERY TIME. These thieves are frequenting our town very often due to the fact that residents are still not locking their vehicles and this is an easy target for the thieves. Do your part and make sure that your property is secure every time. Thank you in advance for any assistance that you may be able to offer.

***LOCK YOUR CARS, TRUCKS AND SUVS***

***DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE***

-PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOCK YOUR VEHICLE(S) AND RESIDENCES ALL OF THE TIME.

-RESIDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY UPON OBSERVING A SUSPICIOUS PERSON OR SOMETHING THAT APPEARS TO BE SUSPICIOUS.

-IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING (Please call 911 immediately, not later)

Remember if it seems too good to be true. It probably is.
