CRIME WATCH ALERT: JUNE 23, 2023

The Crafton Police Department took a report on 6-23-23 from a resident on Hawthorne Ave. that had their catalytic converter cut off and stolen from their vehicle overnight. This is becoming a more frequent type of theft in and around Allegheny County. Ingram PD took at least one report on 6-23-23 for the same type of incident. If anyone near Hawthorne Ave. and Crafton Blvd. saw or heard anything please report your observations to this department. Please check home your surveillance cameras as well and contact this department.

These types of thefts require a person to crawl under a vehicle and most likely use a power tool to cut the catalytic converter off of the vehicle. This will make a good bit of noise. If you hear or see someone running a power tool through the night, please call 911 immediately so that it can be investigated.

Crafton PD is also looking for two people to be crime watch coordinators. If you are interested in being a coordinator, please contact the office at 412-921-2016.
